About this Event

The Georgia Council on Lupus Education and Awareness (GCLEA) is convening the workshop on Friday, August 14, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The goal of the 2019 workshop was to share current activities and achievements, provide perspective, create opportunities to collaborate in the future, and establish sustainable connections. The goal of this 2020 workshop is to bring together attendees from last year, collectively called the Georgia Lupus Collaborative, to contribute to our vision, solidify ideas, and engage additional partners. The long term goal of the GCLEA and the Georgia Lupus Collaborative is to contribute, develop, and implement a comprehensive state action plan on lupus that will enhance existing initiatives and create new initiatives to improve the lives of people living with lupus.

You have been specifically invited by a member of the GCLEA and Georgia Lupus Collaborative to participate on August 14, 2020, in the next at large workshop because you have the skills, the knowledge, the fortitude to bring about change in the lupus arena. In addition to the goals outlined below, we have established a system to move these initiatives to the next level. We pray that you as experts and stakeholders from academia, government, nonprofit, and healthcare can help those of us living with lupus see a better future. The initiatives and the Collaborative are divided into the following groups:

  • Public Outreach and Education – Enhance existing LFA, Georgia Chapter outreach efforts
  • Research – public health, clinical, clinical trials, etc.
  • Provider Outreach, Education, & Support– rheumatologists & non-rheumatologists
  • Patient Services. & Resources – telemedicine, patient self-management, wellness, etc.
  • Workforce Development – work rehabilitation, employer education, etc.
  • Policy - draft policy based on the needs of the GCLEA and Georgia Lupus Collaborative
